The projects is North Lanarkshire and the Bekaa Valley are linked, under the patronage of the Council of Europe to the Children of the Balkans projects in Bosnia and Croatia. There have been regular exchanges of information, experience and creative materials between these programmes, principally through the medium of the TPIOP website. Special events were held in Rijeka on 21st December and in Pula on 22nd December linked to the culmination of work in North Lanarkshire.

In Rijeka, a special performance was held of music theatre and movement work created by children of the Roma community. The theme was water, clouds and rain. The work was presented to families and to the community. In Pula, Bosnian community musician Tony Pesikan and Nigel Osborne led a Christmas workshop for children at the Centre for Rehabilitation in Veruda, Pula. The children were taken on a musical journey on Santa’s sleigh, delivering presents to children around the world. The Centre is a long-time partner of the Children of the Balkans project.
