this place is our place is a project about who we are and where we live.
This website will be a home for information about how we imagine the project working, a place for collecting materials about Motherwell, as well as a space for exhibiting the work we make together along the way.
- ACTIVITIES – learning and teaching materials
- NETWORKS – people and places we can go to to learn more about our home
- OUR PLACE – a space for showing the work and ideas that come from our schools and community
- BLOG – where we can keep track of what we do as we do it
In the first phase of the project we are inviting young people and their families to collect memories, stories, photographs, artwork, music and songs that reflect the life and history of Motherwell and of the people who have made their homes there.
In the second phase of the project we shall use the materials we have collected to make an online exhibition and to create spoken word, theatre, music and song performances that may be presented in the community. Although the project is based in schools, it is intended at all times to reach out to families, carers and the wider community.
In the third phase pupils and local artists will be invited to perform the work that has been created in local hospitals, care homes and other places where this “new art” of Motherwell may be appreciated and be of use.
We would be delighted if you could share your stories, songs, pictures and videos of what Motherwell means to you. Click here to find out how.
